On the second day while getting ready for the 4th US OPEN, I realized the depth of the youngest team Captain Zishawn Qureshi’s, sense of responsibility when I received the following text from him "Rehman can u pick up Chamma from Holiday on your way to Stadium [?]" soon after the text was followed by a telephone call to ensure that I had picked up Chamma.
I first met Zishawn in 2008 when I came to cover the MAQ T20 for NTV a famous Bengali Television station, at the time, he was only 10 years old and the youngest player in the World XI team participating in the MAQ T20 International Tournament where he brushed shoulders with Famous Indian Cricketer Mohammad Azharuddin, as well as Javed Miandad and Shoaib Mohammed from Pakistan, and Richard Richardson of the West Indies.
Zishawn Qureshi is now only 14 years old and is playing in the 4th USOPEN2012 as the youngest player and Captain of the star-studded US ALL STARS with International Players Shoaib Akhtar, Shabbir Ahmed, Hasan Raza who flew in from Pakistan along with his Coach and Manager Mansoor Akhtar (Former Test player of Pakistan Team.)
Zishawn Qureshi is already a well known Cricket Player, liked by everyone for his keen enthusiasm regarding the game of Cricket and his knowledge of the game, which exceeds that of many Cricketers around him. The US ALL STARs reached the Final but due to an injury sustained by one of the Star Batsmen Hasan Raza who had scored a century against Florida Panthers, his absence proved critically detrimental in the final against the defending champions Trinidad & Tobago Cricket Legions.
This year Zishawn's team won the runner up trophy and a cash prize of $7500 was awarded to the Captain Zishawn Qureshi by the International Cricket Legend, Clive Lloyd.
Zishawn Qureshi is the youngest of three children of Mahammad A. Qureshi, Chairman and Founder of the CricketCouncilUSA. Zishawn aspires to be on the US Team and win the World Cup for the USA.
