Results from 9th Round of Lauderhill Maq T20 Intl. Night Cricket 

World XI advance to semi-finals

World XI defeated Bangladesh by 50 runs.

World XI ended the preliminary rounds unbeaten in Group A and advance to the semi-finals of the Lauderhill Maq T20 Intl. Night Cricket Tournament. In a match reduced to 12 overs under the Duckworth-Lewis method, World XI won the tossed and elected to bat in the 9th round of games at the Lauderhill Sports Park. World XI rallied to 144 for 6 in the allotted 12 overs with Moazzam Intiaz blasting 49 from 31 balls including 6 fours and 2 sixes. Other useful contributions came from Asif Motiwala who smashed 28 from 14 balls including 5 fours and 1 six, whilst Farhan Sanawa scored 26 including 2 fours and 2 sixes and Faizon Maqsood chipping in with 12. Bowling for Bangladesh, Mohammed Salakin grabbed 2 for 25, whilst Eskander Haider took 2 for 31 and Rajeev Prabhakar 1 for 25.

 

In reply, Bangladesh ended on 94 for 6 in the allotted 12 overs to finish the tournament with no wins and three loses. Batting for Bangladesh, Eskander Haider scored 25 not out with 3 fours and Mainuddin Ahmed scoring 18.  Bowling for World XI, Rizwan Mohammed destroyed the Bangladesh batting lineup taking 5 for 14 from three overs, whilst Faizon Maqsood took 1 for 9 and Asif Motiwala 1 for 12.

 

Guyana defeated Team USA by 8 wickets.

Guyana defeated Team USA by 8 wickets in the final preliminary game in Group A of Lauderhill Maq T20 Intl. Night Cricket Tournament last Saturday night. Winning the toss and electing to field, Guyana bowled out Team USA for merge 89 in 15.3 overs. Batting for Team USA, Omari Williams blasted 30 including 5 fours, whilst Rhaines Boothe scored 15, Nickolas Mittoo 12 and Marlon Grant 10. Bowling for Guyana, Hazrat Amin bagged 2 for 9, Riad Mohammed 1 for 5, Vickram Ramoutar 1 for 11, Masood Mohammed 1 for 19 and Andy Ramsawack 1 for 29.

In reply, Guyana raced to 91 for 2 in 7.1 overs. Batting for Guyana, Hazart Amin slammed 32 not out including 6 fours, whilst Faizul Sharef scored 25 not out including 2 fours and 2 sixes and Moien Mohammed 18 from 7 balls including 1 four and 2 sixes. Bowling for Team USA, Nickolas Mittoo took 1 for 25 and Rhaines Boothe 1 for 33.

 

Semi-Finals

World XI, Jamaica, T&T and Sri Lanka advanced to semi-finals

Undefeated Group A winners, World XI will face wild-card entry Jamaica in the first game at 5pm of the semi-finals in the 11th Annual Lauderhill Maq T20 International Night Cricket Tournament.

In the second game, defending champions Trinidad & Tobago will tackle Sri Lanka in the battle of the unbeaten teams from Group B and Group C at 8pm. Both games will be played at the Lauderhill Sports Park on Saturday, April 14, 2012 follow by the finals at the same venue on Saturday, April 21, 2012 at 6pm.

Qualifying for the Semi-Finals

The teams that finish 1st in the Group A, Group B, Group C and the team with the best overall net run rate from the remaining teams in the round robin stages shall progress to the Semi-Finals.  Players have to play one (1) game to qualify to play in the Semi-Finals and Finals.
