Results from 4th round matches of the Lauderhill MAQ T20 Intl. Night Cricket Tournament
Lauderhill defeated India by 85 runs
Hundred of cricket fans turned out on a windy South Florida night to watch Lauderhill and Trinidad & Tobago registered victories last Saturday night in the fourth round of the Lauderhill Maq T20 Intl. Night Cricket Tournament.
In the first match at the Lauderhill Sports Park, Lauderhill defeated India by 85 runs to win its first game of the tournament. India won the toss and elected to field and at the end of the allotted 20 overs, Lauderhill scored 186 for 7. Batting for Lauderhill, Captain Victor Charles slammed 44 from 16 balls including 4 fours and 4 sixes, whilst Simeon Pierre and Luther Anderson shared eighth wicket partnership of 51 from 31 balls with Pierre hitting 37 with 2 fours and 3 sixes. Anderson contributed 29 with 6 fours and other valuable contributions came from veteran opener, Roy Weeks 33 (3x4) and (2x6), Robert Cresser 21 (3x4) and Peter Potgeiter not out on 14. Bowling for India, Sunil Nair grabbed 3 for 15 from his allotted 4 fours, Sashank Camasamu 2 for 23 and Vaibhar Nayar 1 for 37.
In reply, India was bowled out for 101 after a strong bowling performance from Michael Graham and Sadiq Mohamed. Batting for India, Mohan Gandia scored 19 and Vaibhar Nayar 17. Sumakanth Jammula chip in with 15 and Sashank Camasamu 11. Bowling for Lauderhill, Graham took 3 for 17 and Mohamed grabbed 3 for 22. Peter Potgeiter took 1 for 7 and Robert Cresser 1 for 23.
Trinidad & Tobago defeated Barbados
Trinidad & Tobago – 211 for 3 in 20 overs
Barbados – 175 for 6 in 20 overs
In the second match, Trinidad & Tobago defeated Barbados by 36 runs to remain unbeaten in Group B of the 11thAnnual Lauderhill Maq T20 Intl. Night Cricket Tournament. Barbados won the toss and sent the Trinis into bat in front a large and boisterous crowd. Batting for Trinidad, Stefan Babulal smashed a scintillating 107 not out to register the first century of the tournament and displayed one of the most dominant innings ever played at the Lauderhill Sports Park. Babulal was in superb form and produced an innings that encompassed both defense and offense, facing 66 balls including 5 fours and 10 sixes. He and Captain Timothy Surujbally shared an opening stand of 71 before Surujbally was caught for 37 from 19 balls including 3 fours and 2 sixes, whilst Baliram Nayaik slammed 36 with 6 fours. Bowling for Barbados, Richard Louis took 2 for 12 from 4 overs and Hallam Batson grabbed 1 for 35.
In reply, the Barbados’s Captain Richard Louis attacked the Trinidad bowlers and slammed a whirlwind 82 including 7 fours and 5 sixes. Opener, Paul Gordon scored 45 including 3 fours and 3 sixes, whilst Ryan James chipped in with 20 not out including 2 fours and 1 six. Bowling for Trinidad, Ken Singh grabbed 2 for 33, Tazmool Hosien 1 for 5, Lyndon Patterson 1 for 16, Timothy Surujbally 1 for 35 and Stefan Babulal 1 for 39. Trinidad & Tobago leads the Group B with two wins and no defeats, whilst Barbados, India and Lauderhill have won one game and lost one game.
