3rd ANNUAL U. S. CRICKET OPEN

Get ready America – Cricket Council USA (CCUSA) and South Florida Cricket Alliance (SFCA) is poised to make cricket history by staging the 3rd Annual U.S. Cricket Open to be held from December 1 – 4, 2011. Much like the “open” format of major US golf and tennis opens, the US Cricket Open will be a fun-filled four day extravaganza that will be the largest T20 cricket tournament to be played in North America and attendance is FREE to the public for all games. Attendees will have an opportunity to win a “Smart Car” and/or “150CC Motor Scooter,” at the Championship Match. The semi-finals and finals will be played at the ICC Certified Central Broward Regional Park Cricket Stadium, while Miramar Regional Park and Brian Piccolo will host preliminary and quarter-finals games.
A record thirty two teams, an increase from 16 in 2010, will battle for the “Championship Trophy and $50,000.00 first prize.” According to tournament director Jeff Miller, this year host South Florida Cricket Alliance as received the blessing of the United States of America Cricket Association (USACA) granting permission for the hosting of the tournament. South Florida cricket fans will be delighted to witness the combination of former international, national and local star’s who will be converging in beautiful South Florida to leave their mark in American sports history.
Melton Taylor, President of SFCA stated: “We anticipate that over 10,000 fans will attend this Cricket Extravaganza over the 4-day period. There will be live webcasting of this “one-of-a-kind” prestigious tournament with uplinks to the Caribbean, New York, New Jersey and Connecticut. SFCA and CCUSA will be promoting this event using an integrated marketing campaign utilizing television, radio, print and the internet.”
Defending champs United Chargers has been confirmed for the tournament and will match skills with some other high profile teams this year. Connecticut Cricket League and Midwest Conference will attend the tournament for the first time by winning the preliminary CCUSA tournament in New England and Chicago. Miller said more than 80 teams applied to participate in the tournament and that calls and application are still pouring in.
Dr. Rahmin Gul, President of Cricket Council USA, exclaimed: ”This is once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. To play for the Champions Trophy of the U.S Cricket Open is an honor that the players, coaches and managers will be bragging about for generations to come. We are looking forward to very exciting and entertaining tournament come December.”
