Wellington, FL - March 8, 2012 -
International Polo Club Palm Beach will host a Cricket tournament as part of its 2nd Annual International Weekend. The origins of Cricket date back to the 17th Century. Originally a children's game, over time it evolved into a professional sport played around the world. Though not considered a mainstream sport in the United States, there are currently 100 countries represented in the International Cricket Council. The 2nd Annual International Weekend provides a rare opportunity to see some of the world's best Cricket players in action. Cricket is scheduled for 10:00 am on both Friday and Saturday.
According to the President of the Cricket Council of the United States of America, Jeff Miller, "Over the International Weekend, we're going to have some fantastic Cricket. We'll have players from Ireland, Great Britain and from the United States. Key players include right arm, fast bowler, Adam Sanford, Cameron Murza, who holds the record for highest scoring US player under 19, Trevor Sink and Jermaine Lawson. Six players are coming from Great Britain that played extensively for County Cricket, which can be compared to major league baseball."
The International Polo Club Palm Beach presents the 2nd Annual International Weekend over the Saint Patrick's Day weekend. It features the very best of international sports, great cuisine, and festivities for the entire family. Held at the International Polo Club Palm Beach, home to the world's finest Polo, it also offers world-class facilities for Cricket, Croquet, Rugby, and Tennis.
